12/02/09. Hey Lew,
Got the bike today! Was very exciting.
Spent all morning putting the bike together.
She's beautiful.
You have done a wonderful job restoring her,
obviously took a lot of care & time packaging.
I need to get a wrench to tighten the crank;
then I think she will be ready to ride.
I will try to borrow a camera & take some pictures
in Melbourne for you.
Hope you've had a wonderful day.
Glad to hear the payment went through.
Speak soon. Kind Regards, Michelle

Glad to hear it arrived safely, no damage.
For crank you'll need standard US socket.
Get it good and snug but don't overtighten.
Note the unusually long stem?
Being able to raise the bars to that height
may be a feature you'll like for comfort.
And the icing on the cake is value.
Other than normal wear, your bike will be
worth the cost, no depreciationm unless
there's haste involved.
I'm looking forward to a photo with you in it.
Lew

Now 74,  I've been restoring bicycles for 12 years. Only the best frames get restored & only the best components get re-installed on my bikes.

They may look good, but you  can't  tell  anything  about  any  bicycle, new or used,  until  completely tore down.  Every part is disassembled, cleaned, inspected, replaced as needed.
Getting this deep into selling bicycles was not my intention,  like setting  up a Website,  etc.  I enjoy the work on bicycles, giving them a NEW LIFE of which I can be proud. There's the further satisfaction I get when the new owner is equally as proud.

Air pollution from China where our new bicycles are being made is blowing across the Ocean, reaching OUR West Coast. My efforts at recycling, thus reducing  pollution, have been recognized and appreciated.

BOUGHT  ANY  PARTS  LATELY?
Using quality parts mostly made in USA or Japan (none made in China),  I  improve   and upgrade with attention to every detail,  making  each  bicycle  even  better  than  when  new. The entire process gives ME satisfaction  that  YOU  feel  when you see and ride one of my restored bicycles.
Together we are saving a heritage of quality bicycles while reducing environmental  impact.  You'll find my bicycles to be like never-ridden bicycles. Please don't let anyone refer to my  bicycles as "used".  I don't.

My  slogan  TWICE-THE-BIKE-FOR-THE-PRICE  conveys  more  than  quality-to -price.
Repair costs are high at bicycle shops.  My bicycles are fully rehabbed
during reassembly with  rims trued to the best of my ability. You should save even more on repairs in the long run.

Mike,

Lew,  Everything with the bike is great, I have ridden it a few times and I love it.
You have been so helpful in this whole process and I thank you for all of your efforts.
I will definitely recommend you to my friends for any of their bike needs.

Hey Lew, I love my bike,  been riding it everyday. Thanks, Charlotte (College Student).

Thanks for the great deal. Charlotte's friend, Emily  (College Student)

I was hesitant about buying a bike online.                                                                          Then I contacted Lew & spoke with him.

An honest man, he's knowledgeable about his work & was extremely helpful after I bought my bike from him. He truly cares about his customers' satisfaction and you can rest assured you'll get a quality bicycle.
As a very tall (6'8"), beginner triathlete, I didn't think I'd be able to find an affordable bike that actually fit me. Good thing I stumbled across Lew's website... My new large-framed Cannondale looks great and rides very comfortably. Attached is a picture of the bike in action during my 2nd triathlon. If you look very closely you can see the trail of riders left in my wake... I have a feeling this bike has many more triathlons in its future.   Thanks Lew! Rickey. Tampa, Fla.

Lew,

The bike is awesome.

It arrived yesterday. I had the bike reassembled in 1/2 an hour. It is a beautiful bike.  It also appears to weigh just about the same as my 2006 Raleigh Grand Sport. Can't believe the original Record was 35lbs before your upgrading. The wheel base on the Record is also longer. The newer bike has a shorter wheel base.  The shorter wheel base bikes are ok but I thought it didn't feel quite                                                          right,  just something I had to get used to.

The tubing on my other new bike is much wider                                                            than the older English frames. I had completely                                                       forgotten how narrow those English frames were.

Thanks so much for a great job! Dave (Aston, PA)

More on the Raleigh Record from Dave:                                                                                A comparison to the 2006 Raleigh Grand Sport                                                          (China) is interesting. The Record climbs hills easier. The Grand Sport allows me to reach a higher speed quicker, yet the Record is faster on the flat road. The Grand Sport handles better,  but if I turn my head quickly to see who's behind me, the Grand Sport swerves a     bit while the Record stays in a straight line. I suspect the difference is due to the Record's longer wheel base (Rake). I'm having fun noticing the subtle differences. Either way, my riding experience has been great.

Lew, it warms my heart to know of the great human beings I meet.  You are included in that impressive group.
It's not often these days, in the "WalMart-ization" of America, we get to know a shop-keeper, a salesperson, etc. You are part of a breed that seems to be dying out. Now 55,  I grew up in a "Shop" (TV-Radio repair) where I learned the word  "Customer".  My dad used to say when the phone rang it was our lifeline, there's a customer on the other end, they need us & we need them. Thanks again, Lew.
